Combining romance, humour and emotional conflict, the film explores what happens when two couples come together for a gathering that gradually challenges their understanding of love, intimacy and commitment.
The Invite will premiere Zee5 from October 23rd, 2026.
The Invite centres on Joe and Angela, a married couple whose relationship has become strained by unresolved problems and growing dissatisfaction. As they struggle to navigate the difficulties in their marriage, the atmosphere at home becomes increasingly uncomfortable. Hoping to break away from their usual routine, they decide to invite their upstairs neighbours, Hawk and Piña, over for an evening of dinner and drinks.
Initially, the gathering appears to be an ordinary social occasion, offering the couples an opportunity to relax and get to know one another better. However, as the evening unfolds, the conversations gradually take an unexpected turn. What begins as friendly interaction becomes an uncomfortable experience, forcing everyone to confront questions about their relationships, personal desires and expectations of love.
Joe and Angela soon discover that Hawk and Piña approach their relationship differently from what they are accustomed to. Their unconventional dynamic challenges the married couple’s established beliefs about intimacy and commitment. As the guests continue talking, the contrast between the two relationships brings Joe and Angela’s own frustrations and unresolved issues into sharper focus.
The dinner party becomes increasingly unpredictable as awkward exchanges, surprising revelations and personal questions disrupt the evening. Beneath the humour and uncomfortable situations, each character is forced to consider what they truly expect from a partner and whether their current relationship fulfils those needs.
As tensions rise, the four neighbours find themselves confronting truths that are difficult to ignore. Their conversations expose the complications of maintaining a marriage when affection, attraction and personal expectations begin to change. The gathering also raises questions about whether people can genuinely understand their partners without first acknowledging their own insecurities and dissatisfaction.
